Mitochondria provide the cell with energy it needs to move, divide, and complete all it's other tasks
Like the Nucleus, Mitochondria have a double membrane. The outer membrane is fairly smooth. But the inner membrane has many folds that make it up, called cristae. On the cristae sugar and oxygen combine to form ATP, which is the main energy source for the cell.
The nucleus has its own DNA and ribosomes. So it can make copies of itself and it can make many of the proteins it needs for itself.
