Plastids
Plastid Cells
The Plastids is in the Plant Cell, it is kinda like the Mitochondria in an Animal Cell because it is surrounded by 2 memebranes and contains DNA like the Nucleus in an Animal Cell.
Some Plastids store starch or fats, while other Plastids contain compounds called pigments that absorb visible light.
The most common type of Plastid is Chloroplast.
Chloroplast are the organelles in the plant cell in which the energy from of the sunlight is converted into chemical energy in organic compounds. This conversion ocurss in the Thylakoids(system of flattened membranous sacs) during the process of photosynthesis. Chloroplast also contains large amounts of a green pigment that gives leaves and other plants their green color.
