George Washington
1. He was the first president of the United States. 2. He was commander in chief of the american revolution forces. 3. He was awarded the very first Congressional Gold Medal, with the thanks of congress. 4. He grew up in Virginia, where 50% of the colonies population was african american. 5. Unlike most people at the time, George actually transitioned from tobacco farming to wheat farming.
6. After the Boston Tea Party, King George III made what the colonists called the 'Interable Acts', which basically was a punishment for the colonists throwing the tea into Boston harbor. King George also sent in a large amount of British troops, which the colonists had to house and feed. 7. Due to the Interable Acts, George Washington attended the 'Fairfax Resolves', which were resolutions that would eventually become the American Revolution.

8. George Washington still remains to be the only president of the United States that recieved a unanimous electorial vote. 9. George was not a Democrat or a Republican. He feared that political parties would cause conflicts and stagnation.
10. He signed the Residence Act in 1790, which authorized the president to select the location of the permanent seat of the American government. It gave the authority to the president to get 3 commisioners to survey and take property for this seat. 11. He served 2 presidential terms. 12. He is the only president to be inaugurated in 2 states; Philadelphia and New York.
13. He is the only president that has not lived in the White House, though he was involved in the planning of the Capitol. 14. When George became president, there was only 13 states, the same states that were colonies when they arrived in the country. 15. During his presidential terms, 5 more states were born; North Carolina, Rhode Island, Vermont, Kentucky, and Tennesee.
