When shooting at a goal, players should know the probability of the puck going in, depending on where he shoots it, by using angles and noticing where the goalie is. Oh, and if that goalie is Marc-Andre Fleury then the chances drop dramatically.
The regulation Hockey rink is 85 feet across and 200 feet in length, which gives us an area of 17,000 square feet. So, the players in the NHL play on a sheet of ice with an area of 17,000 feet squared. Oh, and theres 10 big guys recklessly skating around in that area.
A regulation size NHL Goal is 48 inches high and 72 inches wide between the posts. This gives the players an area of 3,456 square inches to place the puck. Oh, and theres also a big goalie who is extremely flexible and quick, who is covered in pads, trying his absolute hardest to stop you from putting that puck in the net
The dimensions of a regulation size NHL hockey puck are 1 inch thick and 3 inches in diameter. This gives the puck a circumference of 4.71.
The curve on a hockey stick's blade definitely affects a hockey players game. Back in the day, players curved their blades as much as 3 inches, which made their shots a ton better. Today the limit of curve is 3/4 of an inch, to regulate the players shots. Oh, and Ovechkins stick is illegal, and he sucks, and they dont allow Crosby to curve his blade because he is too good.
On the ice of a hockey rink there are Face Off Circles, along with many other things. The face off circles have a 20 foot radius which gives it a circumference of about 62.8 feet around. The playes face off in an area of about 1256 sqaure feet. Oh, and Jordan Staal is like 1000 times better than Eric Staal in the face off circle.
The Save percentage of elite goalies in the NHL are in the .900s. That means if there were 651 shots on goal, that goalie saved 586 of those shots. So the probability of NHL player or shrpshooter to score on an elite goalie is about 1 out of every 10 shots. Oh and Fleury's save percentage is 1.
Evgeni Malkin, the NHLs top scorer, has 115 goals on just 804 shots in his career. This makes his scoring percentage 14.3. Oh, and thats more than Ovechkin can say, and Malkin is beautiful on and off the ice.
The Bell Centre in Montreal has the largest seating capacity (21,273) of all the NHL arenas. And there are seperate seating sections made up of small boxes or rectangles, as shown in the picture.
NHL goalie pads are two large geometrical shapes, they resemble rectangles, but have a different shape.
