Miguel de Cervantes was born in 1547 in Alcala de Henadres Spain. His family was poor even though his father, Rodrigo de Cervantes, was a pharmacist and surgeon. Back then a surgeon wasn't as great as the job it is today. His family was always on the move. And no, they weren't on the run. In 1563 he, his dad, and his brothers and sisters all moved to Seville. Seville was a bustling city where artists thrived. His childhood inspired his work. Growing up he had a basic education. Madrid Lopez de Hoyos taught him about grammar and composition. Cervantes truly enjoyed reading. His favorite genre was poetry; because of this he started writing verses of his own. He died in 1616 on April 23.
