Adolf Hitler..Hero or Villain?
My original hypothesis for Adolf Hitler is that he was both a hero and a villain because to some people, he was a great man who helped Germany become a known country. But he was a villain because he killed millions of people so he could create the perfect race.
I've noticed that the differences between the sources are that some books leave out information. There are inconsistancies in history because people have different perspectives of what may or might not have happened. I view textbooks like another source of info that leaves alot of crucial stuff out. I view history new like a rumor. Some people say one thing happened, but something totally different may have happened.
I've noticed that with textbooks, you can compare two different books and look at the same topic. One will say something, and the other something else, but alot of times, it has quite a bit in common. For instance, in the book, 'The Americans,' it says that Hitler wanted to Annex Czech, to provide living space, but in ,'The American Vision,' it said that on Sept 29, 1938, Britain and France signed an appeasement with Germany. It didn't say that in the other books. Just that one.
Hitler was a very great leader. This being said, he was able to help bring Germany out of such crappy state, he almost took over all of Europe. If the U.S hadn't have interviened, he would've been able to easily take over the world. The fear that he had running through everybody at the time kept his country on the rise. He shows qualities of being a leader, but the way he did it, wasn't the best way. There are positive leaders, and negative leaders. He didn't show much of the positive leader, mostly the negative, but again, it really depends on which way you look at it from.
Hitler was also very persuasive. Hitler was a very great leader. I say this because his speeches were so powerful that he got almost an entire country to back him up. Not every did, but for the most part, they agreed out of terror.
The primary source i used was the book Hitler wrote while he was in jail, 'Mein Kampf.' The information that I got from the book is that Hitler didn't see everyone as equal, he saw them all as individuals that weren't as great as the Aryan Race. I think that the first source will always be the main thing that people should look at first because secondary sources can be tampered with so you may not get the truth sometimes.
my secondary source on Hitler led me to find out that instead of serving his 5 year sentence, he only served 6 months. The secondary source didn't have too many opinions like i was looking for. But the two different sources did have alot of the same things said, but the second one just mainly focused on the rise of the Nazi Party.
My original hypohesis didn't change at all. The most that this project did for me was teach me new things about Hitler. I still think that he was both a hero and a villian, depending on how you view it... I wasn't able to show structoral proof of why he was a hero, but the way he thought and organized his reign was unbeileivably inspiring. His way of persuading people was out of fear, but when he was able to get enough people behind him, that sent a message to the neighboring countries that he is a powerful man who won't let anything from stopping him from reaching his goals.
