Ulysses S. Grant was a very important person in the civil war. He captured strategic places that ruin the confederates plans. Most of these places were west of the Mississippi river and they split the confederates in half. Grant captured Fort Henry and also attacked Fort Donelson in February of 1862. These attacks he had done help win the civil war. Many people did not like grant and they wanted him to be replaced but President Lincoln said no “i can not bare to lose this man he is too valuable to the Union. At the start of the war Grant took control of traning new regiments nea Cario, Illinois. After all of the places Grant had alredy captured he fought more and more. Grante was afraid of blood and did not like any type of red meat. Grant took control of most of Kentucky and Tennessee. During the war he weighed about 135 pounds and the war keep him in shape. He wanted to take over the whole mississippi valley to stop conferderats from shipping supplies. After the Battle of Vicksburg het took control of Chatanooga, Tennessee.
Grant seized control of most of Kentucky and Tennessee. When Grant captured these places he knew that they will win the war, but it was not a sure win though they still had a lot of fighting and bloodshed left before this war was over.
