The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time
"I think prime numbers are like life. They are very logical but you can never work out the rules, even if you spent all you rtime thinking about them." - Christopher Swindon
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time and Sense and Sensibility both use symbols to describe their main characters. In the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, the symbol is puzzles. Christopher is very talented at solving puzzles. He looks at life as a sort of puzzle while others see him as a puzzling child. Jane Austen uses a lock of hair to symbolize Marianne and Elinors struggles and experiences with love. A lock of hair was a common symbol of love in the 19th century. Bel Canto, instead of using symbols to represent characters, uses characters to bring the symbols to life. If it weren't for Roxane, they would not have the music. You need people to bring the music into the story.
Jane Austen uses a lock of hair to symbolize the love and struggles in the lives of her two main characters. In the 19th century it was common to give your husband or fiance a lock of your hair to wear in a piece of jewelry to show your love for one another.
Elinor and Marianne
Marianne and Colonel Brandon
Marianne and Willoughby
Edward and Elinor
Bel Canto and Sense and Sensibility use symbols to describe the relationships between characters. In Sense and Sensibility, the lock of hair represents how Marianne feels about Willoughby, and Edwards engagment with Lucy. Elinor also is led to believe that Edward is in love with her based on a lock of hair. Although the lock turns out to be his fiance's, Elinor was correct in assuming Edwards feelings for her. In Bel Canto, music is what brings people together. Terrorist, and prisinors began to bond over the music they are all in love with. As the music and singing grows stronger, so do the relationships and the love the characters feel for each other. The music and love continue until the very end. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the night-time uses puzzles to solve relationships. It gives you hints and clues, based on how characters interact with each other, and information Christopher learns. You are left to solve the puzzle of the characters relationships, which are revealed to you enventually if you don't figure it out yourself.

One of the puzzles Christopher solves in the book.
The mystery of Wellingtons death is another puzzle christopher solves.
LOCK OF HAIR
Una Voce Poco Fa is the last song the terrorists and prisinors hear before they are "rescued"- or killed.
