Uranium
Uranium's phase at room temperature is a solid, and it is a Metal.
Many members of the scientific community, even Klaproth, thought that the element that he had extracted from the pitchblende (a mixture of uranium oxides) had been pure uranium, but it was really uranuim oxide.
A German scientist named Martin Klaproth discovered Uranium, in 1789, and named it after the planet.
Common Compounds that Uranium is found in: -Uranium Metal: this metal is silvery-white, heavy, ductile, and it is softer than steel. It can ignite spontaneously in air at ambient temperature. -Uranium Oxide: the most common forms are U3O8 and UO2. They both have low solubility in water and are relatively stable in a wide range of enviroments. Triuranium Octaoxide (U3O8) is the most common form, and it is found mostly in nature.
