Not guilty!
A 19-year-old Carpentersville man was found not guilty in Cook County Circuit Court of charges that he participated in the gang sexual assault of a 17-year-old girl last fall at a motel in Elk Grove Village. Edgar Barbosa, of the 100 block of Madeira Circle, also was found not guilty on Monday of unlawful restraint after a two-day bench trial before Judge Thomas Fecarotta Jr. in Rolling Meadows. Fecarotta made his finding after prosecutors were unable to present any DNA evidence linking Barbosa to the attack during an Oct. 25 party at the Motel 6. The victim also was unable in court to identify Barbosa as one of the attackers. Warrants have been issued for four others charged in the assault of the teen.
