Ducks are lucky. They are one of the very little birds to have long flat wings that are as long as their head to tail. Their bones are hollow which allow them to be light weighted. They catch their energy to fly by taking rests in cool ponds.
When ducks are flying a short distance off the ground they cannot fly for very long but when they are high in the sky they can fly for a very long time. When ducks are ready to stop they go slower and lower, then they lean back and land. Ducks have to flap their wings vigorously in order to fly. Ducks can fly at humans jogging speed and are much faster at flying then walking themselves.
