Herons have streamlined bodys. A Heron flies by spreading out it's wings and flapping them then taking a little jump and gliding in the sky. Often seen stalking along the edges of lakes and marshes. Herons can be found in freshwater habitats worldwide, except the poles. they hunt for critters like insects and frogs and also gobble up swimming fellas. Their interesting wings are made up of feathers called powder-down, that do not molt, but the tips fray into a fine powder, whitch the bird collects in its bill and uses to clean its feathers.
Herons long legs let them stride through water without getting their feathers wet. All herons have long beaks and necks; they fold their necks back in flight. The average length of a haron from head-to-tail is 91-140 cm, a wing span of 167-201 cm, and a weight of 2-3.6 kg.
