Fernando Valenzuela
Fernandomania!!
Fernando Valenzuela was born in Navojoa, Mexico. He was one of 12 children raised on a farm. Fernando played baseball for the L.A. Dodgers during the 1980's. until 1996 where he started jumping from team to team.
Fernanadomania formed shortly after Valenzuela's eight shutout of his Dodger baseball career. Everyone, all over was talking about this new player from Mexico who completely destroyed his competition.. They also questioned his age, he claimed to be 19 and he appeared to have 'bent the truth' in order to be more appealing to scouts. Since Fernando came from Mexico, this attracted many Mexican fans to the Dodger staduim.
In 2003, Fernando was inducted into the Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum Hall of Fame!
