How Many Hours a Week Do You Spend on Facebook?
I think lots of people spend a lot of time on Facebook
Survey Method 1. Biased voluntary response sample - My Mom asked her friends on FB the question. 2. Unbiased systematic random sample - My Mom asked the first 20 adults who walked through the door at my church the question.
Analysis: The unbiased survey gave a better representation of the community. The biased survey was based on answers from people who were already on facebook and so their answers would be higher than the general community's. The best measure of central tendency for each survey was different. For the biased survey, the median was the best, 8 hours per week. For the unbiased survey, the mode was the best, 0 hours per week. I found that having outliers in the data made the mean not be a good measure of central tendency and made the range very high for each survey method.
Only 2 out of every 5 people spend time on Facebook.
Unbiased Survey People are on FB an average of 0 hours a week (mode is meausre of central tendency) Biased Survey People are on FB an average of 8 hours a week (median is measure of central tendency)
