1966 - 1968
What is the Cultural Revoltion? It began in 1966 and was started by Mao Zedong. Mao and his supporters started to attack public places and also attacked public figure. Mao wanted to make what he called The Great Leap Forward. But others called it the Giant Step Backward because the plan had failed. This failed plan caused famines and also affected the peasants. The Cultural Revolution costed China years of stable development and it didnt die out until the death of Mao Zedong. China began to recover from the turmoil of the new leader Deng.
Significance: During this revolution many this occurred, but the most significant would be Mao's impact on China and how he wanted something better to happen but it didnt go his way. Also how the impact of Deng Xiapoing affected China in a positive even though he was first saw as a Mao.
