I really love the Christmas season, and all the joy it brings. It really gives you reason, to do many special things. The holidays can first be felt, not long after Halloween, when catchy commercials and ads, are flashing across your tv screen. The fire blazes with a CRACK and HISS, the warmth really strikes my skin. It reminds me of a sweet kiss, the glowing flames warm you from the outside-in. Decorating then begins, right after Thanksgiving ends. The heavy aroma of the fresh pine tree is my favorite scent, and it's branches gain beauty when ornaments are hung. The lights dance on the needles after they are strung. Soon, the smell of cookies fills the kitchen like a pungent perfume, Scrumptious, savory, sweets are baked non-stop, and the cinnamon and sugar melt in my mouth. They really are a dream to consume. Of course no Christmas would be complete, without those classic songs. I hit play and the room becomes flooded with melodies of jingling bells and silent nights. They are lyrical delights. Family and friends all around, laughing and talking till the lights go out. Seeing everyone open their perfect present giggling like a child, makes waiting for hours, alone in a crowd all worthwhile. So for me Christmas has always brought smiles and gifts, yet as i've gotten older I see, that giving more than what we get, is far more important than anything under the tree.
What Matters Most
