The most important people in this chapter would definitely be Esmeralda herself along with her mother. For if it wasn't for her own self-bravery and understanding, she would have never chosen to finish the task. Her mother was also the leading force on Esmeralda's growth and how she handled things. Because of herself and her mother, Esmeralda was able to grow up into a senorita.
The major theme of the chapter, El l Mangle, would be how Esmeralda experiences another chapter of her life. and matures from it.She deals with her self-emotions as she tries to do what she feels is best. In the beginning, she was a small girl lacking confidence and bravery to face the important task. of properly sending the baby to heaven. However, with the encouragement and assurance of her mother and others, she stepped up and finished what needed to be done.
