Plasma Membrane
Plasma Membranes are found only in Eukaryotic cells. While the plasma membrane is the outside to an animal cell, a plant cell has a stronger layer past the membrane, called the cell wall.
The plasma membrane is responsible for exchange of nutrients and oxygen through the cell membrane. And responsible for filtering and keeping out dangerous pollutants. It also gives the cell structure and shape in addition to providing protection.
The membrane is made of a two molecule thick layer of phospholipids, an oily substance found in all cells. This layer is embedded with many diverse proteins and has carbohydrates attached to its outer surface.
