THE FUNCTIONS -Provides energy for the cell to move, devide, and contract. They take in nutrients, digest them, which is what creates the energy for the cell.
SHAPE & SIZE -Shaped for what the cell needs -Very small -There can be thousands in one cell, depending on what the cell needs to do.

Mitochondria
STRUCTURE -Has 2 membranes rather than 1 -The Matrix is the fluid inside the cell.
The two membranes are what makes the mitochondria different than other organells. -The inner membrane (cristae) folds over many times, which increases the surface area. This is why the mitochondria can do so much work. -Most chemical reactions happen inside the cristae
CELLULAR RESPERATION The matrix is filled with water and enzymes. The enzymes combine food particles with ozygen. After the ozygen is added, the particals can be digested. This process can only happen in the mitochondria.
Only found in Eukaryotic cells (animal, plant, and fungi cells)
