Ribosomes are molecular machines that make proteins out of amino acids. Connect amino acids to make long chains. mRNA is made in the nucleus then combines with ribosomes. It then meets a tRNA which is bonded to amino acids, the ribosomes connect to one of these amino acids and make a chain.
Ribosomes
Ribosomes are roughly circular. They make up 25% of the weight of cells. Ribosomes are composed of about 40% protein and 60% ribosomal RNA (rRNA). In eukaryotes they are made of four strands of RNA, and are in the endoplasmic reticulum. They are the bumps that make the ER rough.

Ribosomes have two subunits, they are called: 60-S (large) and 40-S (small). These two units come together and join with the mRNA when it is time to make the protein.
