Human Anatomy
Da Vinci illustrated many drawings of the underlying layer of muscle, tissue, and organs. He searched for proportion in anatomy and showed basic symmetry of the limbs and tried to give a complete picture of the anatomy by adding cross-section views.
Da Vinci raised the study of the ''structure of man'' to a science. Although his proposed treatise on anatomy was never finished, he produced the first results of human anatomy and how man works.

Most artists of the time were content to portray man's form, but Leonardo Da Vinci sought to illustrate the inner structure of man. This led him to obtain 30 corpses and record his findings in hundreds of diagrams, even though the Church was still against human dissection. Da Vinci created drawings showing muscles, blood vessels, bones, and various organs of the body, so clear and accurate that they are still used to illustrate anatomy texts today. His research started the study of human anatomy.
