His poetry inspired the next three or even four generations of poets. He was nonviolent in protest and political action but inspired others through his words. Many artists regarded him as the inspiration to their artwork. Shelley's poetry was a step in Romanticism, when people would strongly express their emotions through the arts. Through this, many great pieces of literature and artwork were formed and made our art and literature what we have today.
