Section 3: I think this book if fairly well. There might be some things in this book that too detailed or some that low detailed that need to be more detailed. Over all I think that the writer’s point of view includes quite fine. He didn’t write using a persona, but he wrote in a biography form. This kind of form makes the writing easier to read instead of being confused on whose thoughts the writer is describing. The structure could of have been better. There are variates yes, but only sometimes they make sense. In the previous example that I have written it showed how it didn’t really make sense because the parenthetical observation, although it gave details, it didn’t make the reading easier but somewhat complicated. Anyways I really like the writer’s use of repetition; it gave the great significance of the words of nightingale. The reader can expect fairly much from this book although some might not make sense. The elements that might make him more interested in it include the writer’s structure, or the details of this Women’s life. The things that might disappoint him include the not so good use of details. Although they are in order, they rarely make any sense because of the big vocabulary he uses which might not be as suitable for many people. Overall I do recommend this book. I recommend it people who are doing researches about this woman or to people who like reading about other people who followed God’s plan for them. I do not recommend it for a slight reading that is for fun because of the complex vocabulary.
Section 2: One of the four elements is chronological order. This author goes in the order of events that had happened to Florence nightingale. For example he states she was born then he goes to she grew up and decided to become a nurse and on. This is gives the reader the idea that this book is a biography about someone’s life. He also uses repetition the idea of Florence nightingale wants to become a nurse. The author repeats the idea of how she wants to become a nurse and how her parents had refused. Also in the last sections of the book, he repeats the hymn that Florence nightingale keeps singing to encourage her nurses. This kind of style shows the significance of some details and how they affected Florence’s life. Thirdly, the author uses a parenthetical observation. There are only about 4 or 5 of them in the book. An example would be when he first described where Florence was born and how that affected her name since she was born in Florence. This affects the reader so that he could understand better and be able to gather more information. Lastly the author uses order of details. You can see that he uses that when the author keeps on giving details in order of sentences or paragraphs. This gives the reader more information about her life. An example sentence would be “Then a sloping meadow, losing itself a steep wooden descent (such tints over the woods).” This sentence has a parenthetical observation that is in parentheses. This observation gives the reader the “ha, I see now” response. It is one of the styles that this author uses to make his writing more interesting.
Section 1: The genre of my book is a biography. It is that because the author is talking about another person's life and interests. This person is Florence nightingale. My book’s point of view is third person limited because the author is only giving the thoughts and opinions in detail of Florence nightingale. This kind of point of view giving the writing the statement that says it is a biography. The facts in this book are not revealed immediately; neither do they come in after 10 chapters. They go along with the sentences in the book. Some sentences include facts about her life, others don’t. The author probably chose to write in this way because it gives it the essence that is a school book used for research and other schoolwork. In my book the there was only one single plot. This plot was centered on the theme of this book. The plot was for nightingale to find her job as a nurse and to decitate herself to God, while the theme was, in my opinion, to always fight for what is right. This story starts with Florence nightingale being born. Them the rising actions toward her becoming a famous nurse include: Florence nurses her first patient, a Sheppard’s dog, who was about today because of a broken leg. Second, Florence grows up and decides to become a nurse. She tells her parents about her life’s dream to become a nurse but hey refuse for how can a rich lady become such a low class nurse. This idea is set aside for sometime when Florence had to deal with her parents and their will for her to get married. She refuses and moves on to the nurse life. She travels to famous nursing schools and learn what nurses are really like. Even after seeing the horror of becoming a nurse she still wants to. The climax in this story is when there was the Crimean war and the Turkish hospital was full with soldiers in pain and she stayed up all the time nursing and comforting them which was a big challenge for her. Finally Florence nightingale is awarded a reward and today there is the Florence nightingale award for great achievements of nursing.
Florence Nightingale
'The lady of the lamp' She had got this nickname when she was nursing the soldiers at the hospital after the war. The soldiers called her the lady of the lamp because of the lamp she holds at night when she was comforting them and nursing them from thier suffering.. Characters The charachters include Florence nightingale, The Nightingale family (parents, siblings, Grandma), Nurse teacher in someplace that the book doesn't explain much but i think it is transylvinia. Also the dog and the shepherd. Also the Mr. who wanted to marry Florence nightingale but she had refused, God, and wounded soldiers as well as the Cermean war commander. The queen of england at that time was in this boook as well..
