History
The museum started when Thomas Dent Mutter decided to share his personal collection of unique oddities in human skeletons and other special objects of interest. He presented his collection to the College of Physicians of Philadelphia in 1858. The museum was created to educate future doctors about medical oddities and human anatomy.
The museum collects its human anatomy exhibits from hospitals and families who donate their relatives bodies to science. The museum is popular for its famous collection of skulls, the lady with a horn extending from her head, and the lady whose dead body was formed into a soapy substance matter called adipocere.
The Mutter Museum also provides the public with a malignant tumor, which was removed from President Cleveland's hard palate, and a growth which was removed from John Wilkes Booth- President Lincoln's assassin.

Many people also do not know that the museum is rich with history. This is the only place that ties history and medicine together.
