Mother Theresa Details: Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu (Mother Theresa) was born on August 26 1910 in Skopje in Macedonia. She was the youngest of three children and probably spoke Serbian. When she was in her teens she decided to join a local youth group. From this experience she became interested in missionaries and at the tender age of 17 she responded in becoming a catholic missionary nun. She chose the name Theresa or Teresa (either) when she took her vows as a Sister of Loretto, a community known for their missionary work in India. She named herself after Saint Therese of Lisieux. She died on September 5, 1997, in Calcutta, India.
What are nuns?" Nuns are catholic women who strictly follow the bible. They wear a long dress-like garment called a habit. Mother Theresa’s habit is white with a bit of blue. Other habits are black (most commonly known), dark brown, grey, navy blue, beige and very plain colours. There are no nuns with bright red or orange habits. Around their habit they usually have a belt or rosary beads and around their neck they have a pendant cross on a chain. There are some variations of what nuns wear but at each convent they wear the same outfit. They’d live in a small room with uncomfortable beds and only one or two other bits of furniture. When a woman becomes a nun they usually have to shave off their hair and give their other clothes to the more needy such as poor people.
Her Characteristics: Caring; Caring- Feeling and exhibiting concern and empathy for others. (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/) ~She was caring because of all the kind things she did for people who were less fortunate or wouldn’t be missed. Principled; Principled- Based on, marked by, or manifesting principle. (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/) ~Because Mother Theresa was Catholic, she had principles and stuck to them. She forgave anyone and followed the bible. Thinker; Thinker- One who thinks or reasons in a certain way. (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/) ~I believe Mother Theresa was a thinker because she tried to think of ways to help people and she thought before she did any action. Communicator; Communicator- One that communicates with other people. (My interpretation) ~She was a communicator because she talked to people about what she thought and her ideas. My example of this is on YouTube there is a video of her giving an inspiring speech to graduating students about how it would be best to act in the future. Reflective; Reflective- Characterized by or given to meditation or contemplation. (http://www.thefreedictionary.com/) ~As a nun, she'd have spent alot of time meditating and contemplating through prayer and in periods of silence. Inquirer; Inquirer-asks questions and learn from what they notice, do or see. (My interpretation) ~she strived to find out about other people and what would've been best to do in a situation and what god and people wanted her to do.

Quotes from Mother Theresa: 'Do not wait for leaders; do it alone, person to person.' 'Everytime you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing. ' 'Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.' 'Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.' 'Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls.' 'The success of love is in the loving - it is not in the result of loving. Of course it is natural in love to want the best for the other person, but whether it turns out that way or not does not determine the value of what we have done. ' 'The most terrible poverty is loneliness and the feeling of being unloved.'
