How Animals suvive without food while Hibernation? Animals hibernate (Having a long sleep) because some animals cannot live in a very cold weather like winter and autumn. But mostly animals hibernate at winter because it is the coldest time of the year, they cannot stand the coldest of winter so they have to have a very long sleep to miss the coldest time of the year. This is the only way to miss out the cold weather. But hibernation is not just about sleeping the whole time in winter, these animals still need to eat in the winter but they don't eat that much but they still need to eat. But these animals that hibernate need to collect as much food as they can before the hibernation behinds, hibernation mostly begin in the middle of December to Febuary. If these animals dont collect or couldn't collect enough food, they might not survive in the winter, they will only have a 20% of surviving. This is hibernation animals(Squirrels and more) should collect food when they can so they won't die in the winters. So you know, hibernation animals cannot come out of their hibernation spot(their home) while hiberanting because just around five minutes out side they might freeze to death. So this will be very hard for the animals to survive without food during hibernation in the long winter. But winter is the time to have a long rest for those hibernating animals. But those animals should get ready for hibernation. We dont want to loss more animals( we dont want animals to be extinct) But after the hibernation animals will get ready for the next winter, so they collect more food after the long rest. They will have competition to the other for food. Even they have a eight months to collect food, they still have to start working right away, so they can easily survive the next winter without any problems.
