Dim Bright shadows, sparkle here and there They dance and quiver everywhere They smile and I prepare, for a smack but they simply pet my cheek And sing and whisper and speak They tell me I can have what I want I hesitate and finally they laugh and taunt They ask why I don't want to be one of them and suddenly I felt the whim The whim, the urge, I pushed back down my throat For I knew if I joined I'd never stay afloat I would sink down to their lies and twists If I joined I would live in a murky mist Trying to coil in other prey So I too, could take their lives away I turned down the bright shadows request And I walked away feeling my best Never again would their flash catch my eye I knew then, they sank while I took to the sky. -by: AKBird
