Hero's Journey Alex Creighton
The Old Man and the Sea
Stage 1: Innocence-Hero lives an ordinary life. Santiago lives alone as a poor fisher man with his only friend, the boy.
Stage 2: Departure- Hero is called to adventure, reluctant to go but enventually accepts. Santioago deides to go catch the fish because it has been 84 days since his last catch.
Stage 3: Initiation-Hero is facing the unknown, dangerous world. Santiago travels out far to sea.
Stage 4: Trials and testing- Hero is given help, tests of strength. Santiago tries to catch the fish with only the line in his hand, ripping his hands. The fish is dragging him out to sea.
Stage 5: The innermost cave-The final battle. Santiago battles the fish and kills it by stabbing it with a spear. Santiago the ties rope threw the mouth and gills of the fish to the boat. Soon after sharks come and eat the fish's body
Stage 6: Return home- Santiago returns home after 4 days at sea with only the fishes head because the body was eaten into a skeleton by the sharks. He is greeted by the boy crying and quickly falls asleep.
