Cilium and Flagellum

Cilium is also used as sensory organelles. Until recently we have not been studied much., but in recent studies we have been found to control cell growth and have been shown to coordinate a large number of cells to complete a common function.

Flagellum has been used to prove the theory of creationism. Michael Behe, a respected biochemist, states that the flagellum couldn't possibly have been produced naturally through evolution because they are too complex. They can only function when all of the pieces that make it up are present and placed together in the correct amount and order. Behe argues that because it is useless if all the components aren't present in the right amounts, it would be impossible for these structures to come about through slight changes like in evolution.

Well hello there, Ohhhh how improper of me, i should’ve introduced myself. I'm a flagellum. You might know my brother cilium. We are both very similar, but also have major differences. I look like a tail or a whip and my only function is cell movement. I am found on prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. On bacteria, i move the cell by completing a corkscrew like motion. On other cells I move the cell by lashing back and forth.

Cilium- Well, I guess I should go about introducing myself. I’m, Cilium and i am considered the wheels of the cell. I am usually found in large groups on the cell membrane. I have many different functions. Usually all of the cilia move at the same time in the same direction. I'm either used for cell locomotion, or movement, or to transport objects around the cell.. For instance, i line the trachea of animals and move mucus and dust out of the lungs.
