As I Sleep
A single lamplight gleams, by the edge of purple down,
Look- we may look- at the merciful town,
But we must not enter in.
Where the poor may lay their wrong,
As I sleep,
To its outcast wall, but is guarded from all,
While the sick may forget to weep.
All as I sleep,
I drift away to the city of sleep,
That is hard by the sea of dreams,
I rest away, Time begins to fade,
All as I sleep.
