-The Temperance Movement started associating German beer with a conflict in patriotism. -Wartime Prohibtion Act (1918) -18th Amendment (1918): prohibited manufacture, sale, transportation or importation of alcholic beverages in the US. -Speakeasies replaced saloons in 1920s -Bootleggers, Moonshiners, and Rumrunners became more common
Prohibition only caused the US population to want to disobey the law even more. Graft & corruption in the cabinet (esp, during Harding's presidency,) caused much insecurity & lack of faith in the government.
