People with Down Syndrome have the same feelings and moods as normal people do. They attend normal schools as children and teenagers if ithats what they wish to do.. Being at a normal school has its ups and downs. They make many friends., but they are bullied by others. As they get older they can live on their own. Some attend Inderoendant Living.. In Independant Living chores and taking care of onese;lf is done on their own.
Cause Of Down Syndrome
Down Syndrome Is Caused By Having 47 Chromosomes Instead Of The Normal 46. The Extra Chromosome Comes From Pair Number 21. There Is 3 Chromosomes, Not The Normal Pair Of 2.
Down Syndrome Can Be Life Threatening. It Increases The Chances For Many Problems Early & Later In Life. Heart Deffects Are A Regular Thing For Children With Down Syndrome. Surgery Is Immediately Required After Findings Of Heart Problems. Children With Down Syndrome Have A Higher Chance Of Getting Leukemia Than Normal Children. Because Of Weakness Of The Immune System They Are More Susceptible To Infectious Diseases Such As Pneumonia. Later In Life People With Down Syndrome Have An Increased Risk In Dementia. Signs Usually Show Up At Around 40 Years Or Older. People With Down Syndrome Can Live To Be 50 Or Even Older.
Early Detection
There Are A Few Methods To Detect DS Early. One Way Is To Do An Amniocentesis, Which Is The Most Popular. Others Include Ultrasounds And Retreiving Blood Or Another Subtance From The Fetus Going Thru The Abdomen Like The Amniocentesis. All Of These Tests Except The Ultasounds Have Some Sort Of Risk That Come Along With The Procedure. Risks Include Miscarriage Or Preterm Labor. Some Have More Serious Risks.
