Martha enrolled at Cummock School to study the Liberal Arts.. Then at age 20 she studied at the Denishawn Dance School.
In 1923 she started dancing on Broadway. At the age of 30 she accepted a teaching position at the Eastman School of Music. Then she began to teach and choreograph at the back of Carnegie Hall
Graham wrote an autobiography called Bloody Memory
Her Inspirations were Ruth St. Denis, Isadora Duncan, and Ted Shawn.
Martha was born in Allegheny, Pennsylvania. She was born to a rich family that didn't approve of her pursuing dance as a career.
Her dances consisted of strong precise movents, contracctions,emotions, and contemporary movement.
