Anne was born in 1928. She was born in Newton, Massachusetts. Also, she got married at the age 19. Can you believe that?
In 1955, she had another daughter. She suffered another postpartum depression. She got hospitlized again. On her birthday, that same year, she attempted suicide.
Her doctor encouraged her to pursue an interest in writing poetry which she had ddevelopedn in high school. In 1957 she enrolled in a poetry workshop at the Boston Center for Adult Education.
In 1953, she gave birth to her first daughter but then in 1954 something terrible happened, Anne got diagnosed with postpartum depression, which means that she got depressed after having pregancy.

In 1974, at the age of 46 , she won the Pultiter Prize for poetry in 1967 for Live or Die, she lost the battle with mental illness and committed suicide.
