Wemmick: He is a very nice, kind man. He works with Jaggers but keeps his real life and work life very seperate. He lives with his father, The Aged P, , and his fiance Miss Skiffins. Wemmick also lives in a castle and is a very creative man

Abel Magwitch: He is Pip's benefactor in the story. He is also known as the first convict that Pip meets. Pip helps the convict by giving him wittles (food) and a file. Abel recognizes Pip's generosity and gives Pip great expectations. Abel is also the father of Estella and wife of Molly. Abel dies unfortunately of illness at the end of the novel.

Miss Havisham: She is initially thought to be Pip's benefactor. She is the adopted mother of Estella and raised her to have a heart as cold as ice. She is a cruel woman who wants to get revenge on all men after she was stood up on her wedding at the alter. Because of that she stays in her house all day in her wedding dress with all of the clocks set to the time of her wedding as if she can not move on into the present and is stuck in the past.

Pip is the one on the left the other is Herbert.

Pip: Pip is the protagonist in the story. Pip faces many different decisions throughout the story that effect others around him. Pip decides that he wants to be a gentleman to chase after, Estella, a woman he can never have. Pip becomes a snob to his lower class friends/family because they are different. At the end of the story Pip realizes that possesions are never as valuable as love.

Joe Gargery: Joe is Pip's stepbrother but acts as his father/friend. Joe is a very kind loving man who, after getting abandoned by Pip, still shows Pip unconditional love. Joe pays off Pip's debts and brings him back to good health after falling very ill.

Estella: Estella is responsible for causing Pip to act the way he does throughout the story. She is upper class and is raised to be heartless. She is very rude to Pip but he falls in love with her. She later goes off and marries Bently Drummel aka The Spider. Bently is abusive towards her and later dies when a horse hurts him. Estella never is with Pip in the original ending. In the rewritten ending Estella meets Pip again in the garden and they go off together.

Jaggers: He is also partly responsible for Pip's expectations. He was in charge of delivering them and took Pip to London with him. Jaggers is a criminal lawer. Pip first meets him at Miss Havisham's. Jaggers, Miss Havisham, and Wemmick all help Herbert start his own business so he can marry his fiance.
