Have you ever wondered why the sky is blue? or why sunsets are red?
Blue Skies and Red Sunsets
This image explains how the location of the person on Earth effects the color of the sky. www.math.ucr.edu/
When light from the sun hits Nitrogen and Oxygen molecules in the air, they get absorbed and light scatters blue.
If you look at the horizon, the sky appears much paler. To reach you, blue light must pass through more air and travel further. Less blue light reaches your eyes and the color of the sky near the horizon appears paler or white.

"The molecules are able to scatter light because the electromagnetic field of the light waves induces electric dipole moments in the molecules." (Gibbs)
Sunsets
"at sunset, sunlight is passing through a much longer path of the lower atmosphere than when the sun is overhead" (WeatherStreet) Since the light travels so much more distance, more blue light gets scattered leaving only red light.
