The imperialist policies of European nations in the 19th century were not driven just because powerful and hold land, but by a combination of a wide range of forces. The industrial revolutions that swept across Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries were a major factor in the acceleration of European imperialism.
1. Who was the controlling nation and what was the major resourse exported ? The Portuguese controled the nation of Brazil. The more land a metropolis had, the more power and money they got. For instance, Brazil was a great agricultural province and had large gold reserves. If they control the they would just take advantage of it for there own uses. They were mean and worrile people.
5. How did the native population respond to imperial rule ? Most colonial frontiers worked with disregard to ethnic boundaries. This caused problems, for instance, fighting between the Tutsis and Hutus in Rwanda. Soon problems and war begon.
3. Explanation of how the imperial power gained control and the extent of that control. At many times during the 19th century Europeans held control over the continents of South America, Africa, Asia, and Australasia. The meaning for European imperialism was driven by many things like desire for territorial strength, and economic opportunities. They needed cheap supplies to fuel Europe's industrial revolutions.

4. The effects of imperialism on the native population? The Colonizers showed no equality,respect, or political freedom to people of different races other than their's. Native people's would have low-paying jobs. To many Africans, colonialism meant loss of farmlands or employment on plantations.
