The Battle of Bunker Hill took place June 17th, 1775 in Charlestown, which was 2.2 miles from Boston.
British killed- 1125 out of 2500 Percenge killed- 45%
Colonists killed- 441 out of 1,500. Percentage killed- 29.4%
The British had come to Charlestown, hoping to take over the rebels and the city. however, Colonel William Prescott led his troops who built two forts on Breed's Hill and Bunker Hill, also bringing in cannons and weaponry.
When the Britsh Generals Gage and Pigot woke up, they saw that the two forts had had been built, and that 1,500 colonial soldiers had appeared overnight, they noted...
