Fashion/Flappers
Flappers during the 1920's were seen wearing cloche hats and more and more make up. Women were use to the sense of independence which they achieved as a result of wartime employment and they were unwilling to go back to the old ways of previous years before the war. The Mary Jane ankle strap button shoe was almost a necessity during the twenties to most women. Bows and buckles were normaly showing on the shoes and were worn with knee high socks and a short skirt or dress. During the twenties shoes were more than a fashion statement. Bare arms and strapped dresses and boyish styles exploded during the nineteen twenties. Women during the twenties along with their bobbed hairdos and costumes were saw smoking, dancing (charleston), having photographs taken and driving. They were very independent and out going.
