I went to the beach today The sun shining cruelly down A bright beacon in the sky Revealing diamond trails upon my cheeks I sat down in the sand Ignoring the flaming heat Ignoring the fiery pain That engulfed me Inside and out I looked down at my cold lonely hand Trying to gain comfort From the sparkling beads Trying to fill the space that you left Trying to hold on To what it once had Yet the beads slipped out like water At least they fell and weren't ripped out But the anger and pain was still ignited My heart screaming with such intensity That the shards turned into their own Type of sand I pressed my hand into the sand With the force of my now lost love It needed to be released somewhere Since it was cast aside by you But what happened left me with more gems Sliding swiftly across my face For all that I had made was a handprint A handprint in the sand A handprint that could be enjoyed for a moment But never treasured, never kept A handprint that was so hard to make So hard to earn its place there But you erased in one swift motion Instantly forgetting it was even there But I was left with pieces Burning my porcelain hand Pieces that no matter how hard I brush Never seem to completely disappear
