Environmental Justice
Enviromental Justice- the right of every citizen, regardless of age, race, gender, social class, or other factor, to adequate protection from enviromental hazards.
In 1994 President Clinton signed an executive order requiring all federal agencies to develope strategies and policies to ensure that their programs do not discriminate against poor and minority comunities.
Enviromental justice applies to countries as well as to individuals.
Hazardous waste is often sent to less developed nations, because as industrialized nations develope more stringemt environmental standards, disposing of hazardous waste at home becomes much moreespensive than sending it to a developing nation.
