In the Faculty of the Arts -The principal authority is always Aristotle on: logical or rational philosophy, moral philosophy and natural philosophy. In the Faculty of Law -The principle Latin authorities are: in civil law and in cannon(church)law In the Faculty of Theology -The Bible -Church Fathers -Great Doctors of the Church such as Origen, Augustine and Aquinas In the Faculty of Medicine -Hippocrates -Galen -Arabic and Jewish Medical Texts -Theodore of Lucca -Lanfanci -Chauliac
Schoolboys Boys would go to school and the girls and nobles would learn their education at home nobles with private tutors. Their school days in the summer would begin at 6 in the summer and 7 in the winter. The school day would end at 5 or 5:30. Their elementary school level was called petty school. Then you would go to grammar school where you would learn Latin grammar. After this you would go to university. These courses where conducted in Latin. Anyone who wanted to make his way in the world must have at least a working knowledge of Latin.
