Cameras
Cameras are used to take photographs. Interestingly enough, the word "photography" comes from the Greek words "photos," meaning light, and "graphe," meaning drawing.
A camera lens contains several lenses that focus on the light entering the camera through refraction. The lens contains concave lenses that bend the light so that it will be focused on the film inside the camera, in order for the photo to be taken. When the shutter opens, light enters the camera and refracts as it passes through the lenses. It does this until it reaches the film, where a negative image is created.
In single lens reflex (SLR) cameras, you can adjust the distance of the lens from the sensor (the equivalent of film). Moving the lens towards the sensor diminishes the image, while moving the lens away from the sensor magnifies the image.
