The Cold War yourself
Nuclear Proliferation was at the heart of the Cold War. Both the U.S. and the USSR wanted to prove they had the most nuclear weapons. Other nations began to compile large amounts of nuclear stockpiles. This would affect peace treaties, alliances, depending on how many nuclear missiles a country had.
Due to the increased production of Nuclear bombs civilians were taught on what to do if a nuclear attack was iminent. Fallout shelters were also constructed to protect against missile attacks.
Soviet Russia strategically began to place missiles in the Western Hemisphere near the U.S. The main area of concern was Communist Cuba. This evolved to the Cuban Missile Crisis.
At the same time the U.S had missiles placed in Turkey. The Soviets and the United States came to an agreement to take out both missiles from both countries.
After the Cuban Missile Crisis there was the Bay of Pigs; invaders were assigned to invade Cuba and assasinate Fidel Castro. This task was unsuccesfull U.S. took blame for this event.
Propoganda was used heavily during the Cold War. Both the U.S and USSR wanted to get their message across that their form of government was the more dominant. They used a method of "Backwards Transmission" where citizens to get the backwards message, and the opposing side would get the real one. They also used radios, T.V's, and political drawings extensively.
Soviets used propaganda by using the fundamental idea of Marxism to point flaws at Capitalism. The U.S. used propaganda by saying that they were apart of the free world and the Soviets were to trying to oppress the rights of the poeple.
After World War II Korea had become their own independent state, but they had also been influenced greatly by communist. A more democratic South Korea was made but this caused the Korean War.
The Vietnam war involved Communism as well. North Vietnam was Communist and this collided with the democratic South Vietnam.
The Berlin Wall seperated Democratic West Germany and Communist East Germany. The Wall eventually fell in 1989 and 2 year later Soviet Russia fell.
