ROOTS OF LOVE The roots of love spring up soon Planted in a heart full of kindness Fertilized with many hugs and caresses And watered with the kisses of happiness I planted my hope on the floor of your chest But the sun of your contempt of the cruel summer Do not let the seed take root That dried up in the drought your heart Love that has no roots Lasts a little or nothing It rises in the nightfall To die at dawn Roots of true love never ends The trunk falls down and they stay in a long wait And the rain of tenderness about them comes To dress again in spring The love I lost left me roots Today only a nod that she made me In a long tight hug we reconciled ourselves And in the chest I feel the dawn shine again
