THE BRAIN
BY ARYAMAN & HASTAN
PARTS OF THE BRAIN
Intro to the Brain
The brain is the center of the nervous system in all-vertebrate and most invertebrate animals. Some primitive animals such as jellyfish and starfish have a decentralized nervous system without a brain, while sponges lack any nervous system at all. In vertebrates the brain is located in the head, protected by the skull and close to the primary sensory apparatus of vision, hearing, balance, taste, and smell.
CEREBRUM
Cerebrum is the biggest part of your brain and makes up 85% of the brains weight. Cerebrum is responsible for your voluntary muscles (the ones that move on your command) and both your long-term and short-term memory. The cerebrum is split in 2 parts both on either side of the head. The right side helps you think about abstract subjects and topics like music, drawing and colour. While the left side is more logical and helps with speech, math’s and other related subjects. One special part about the cerebrum is that the left side of the cerebrum controls your right side and vise versa.
An average human brain is 15cm in lenght and weighs 1.4 kilograms
