The Industrial Revolution was a time that made factory manufacturing a large-scale operation.
The Industrial Revolution vastly increased the demand for cotton. The cotton gin, introduced by Eli Whitney in 1793, was one of the biggest causes of the want for so much cotton. Because of this want, slaves were needed in the South.
During the Industrial Revolution, America expanded West. The opening of new lands in the West greatly extended the area available for cotton cultivation.
After Westward Expansion, many people of the South and West favored Jacksonian Democracy. Led by Andrew Jackson, Jacksonian Democracy was opposed to favoring the wealthier, and was more focused on the common man. In eastern states, it also gave men without property the right to vote.
