Edna Pontellier
I am Edna Pontellier and I am at the ripe age of 28. I have yellow hair, with brown eyes to accompany them. My father had a plantation in Mississippi, but my home was in Kentucky. I have two children with my husband, Leonce Pontellier. I am very open to what I want and desire. My husband and I go to Grand Isle, where I have the desire for music, art, satisfaction and freedom that I cannot keep from myself.
Grand Isle
Grand Isle is the place I can be myself and be free to do what I utmost desire. Here I have learned my attraction to a man that I love very dearly. At Grand Isle, I experience freedom like no where else that I have been to. I feel like an individual, and can express myself in ways that society wouldn't allow me to otherwise.
As I live my life, I realize that I am not really happy and want to be my own person. When my husband and my childrend and I travel to Grand Isle for the summer, I find myself and I also find a love. Although I am very thankful for my husband, Robert Lebrun is the one who holds my heart. After finding that Robert is leaving and its time for summer's vacation to end, I visit Mademoiselle Reisz's house to read the letters that Robert sends her. By the time Robert comes home, I have admitted that I am in love with him. I find myself and realize that there is more to society than just sitting and smiling,.
