1. When Henry Tudor made a claim to the throne it didn't mean anything until 1471 whne Henry VI’s only son, Edward died. This death made Henry Tudor the only male with any ancestral claim to the House of Lancaster. 2. At the Battle of Bosworth Field, in Leicestershire, Henry's and Richard III forces met, and Henry won the crown. 3. Henry Tudor's main problem was to strengthen England's monarchy after 85 years of civil war. 4. In 1491 the french invaded Britain and Henry declared war. By November 1492 Henry agreed to withdrawl if the french pay them. 5. To handle foreign affairs, Henry Tudor arranged a marriage of his eldest son, Arthur, to Spain’s Catalina de Aragon. A few months after the marriage Arthur died and Henry arranged for another marriage with Catalina to Arthur’s brother, future Henry VIII. This marriage affected a lot of Henry VII actions. 6. Henry had financial difficulties. However, through his financial strategey he became a strong wealthy king, and left a good fortune for his son when he died. 7. After Henry became king the Yorks made many attemps to regain the throne because they didn't like a Lancaster being king. 8. Henry used Justices of Peace everywhere. Their job was to make sure that the laws of the counrty were obeyed in their area. 9. The War of the Roses was between the Lancaster and York fmailies. In order to bring the two closer together Henry married Elizabeth of York, but hte Yorks still remained a threat. 10. Henry Tudor died a very successful king. He acheived all of his goals: he established a new dynasty, strengthened the judicial system, and acheived a secrue and wealthy monarchy.
PROFILE Henry VII was born on January 28, 1457 in Wales. He was the son of Edmund Tudor and Margaret Beaufort. In 1486 Henry married Elizabeth of York and had four children, He succedded the throne on August 22, 1485 at the end of the War of the Roses. By Henry VII becoming king of England, he founded the Tudor dynasty. Henry Tudor died on April 21, 1509.
