There has been no cure for the disease. Smallpox has not been traced for years and the last region of detection was in Africa.
The virus is spread from person to person from contact with each other. The virus has also been detected transmiting in the air
Smallpox can only infect human beings. Insects and animals can,t get or carry the virus. Everyone is vulnerable to smallpox. Once the virus enters the body there is a 12- 14 day waiting period. Then a flat reddish rash appears on the chest following with muscle aches, fever and chills. Then bumps appear over the body and fill with puss. The bumps are called pox wich scab over then fall off. When they fall off it can cause a victim to bleed to death.
